AN EXCITING TIME IN RETAIL

May 2024
The 2024 kick-off
The year had hardly started when Phase Two of Hebron Mall, situated 30 kilometres north-west of the Pretoria CBD, opened in March. Retail Network Services was responsible for strategising the additional 7,000m² of retail which was added to this popular shopping centre. We signed up 24 new retailers, banks and eateries for the extension, including an eagerly anticipated Nando’s. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was performed by the Queen Mother of the local Bakwena Tribal Authority, much to the excitement of the Hebron shopper community.

Up next
In tandem with Hebron Mall’s extension, our teams have been hard at work on site at the brand-new Town Square at Newmarket in Alberton. This 35,000m² mall opens on 30 May 2024 and our pulses are racing.
We have an outstanding mixture of shops strategised for the mall, including a restaurant hub which is destined to become the go-to eat-out destination in Alberton. Our leasing team has concluded deals with a fantastic mix of restaurants, from Tiger’s Milk to a flagship Doppio Zero.
A dedicated leasing duo
Eugene Potgieter and Kimeko Maritz, two of RNS’s highly experienced leasing agents, have been responsible for the leasing of Town Square at Newmarket. In the completion of the task, they struck a fine balance between the expectations of the landlord and the prospective tenants.
“Our balanced combination of international, national and independent tenants in Town Square at Newmarket is fresh and modern,” says Eugene. “The centre will offer a wide range of categories including outlet fashion, homeware, furniture, health and beauty, restaurants, convenience and service-related businesses.” Kimeko adds: “The tenant mix here is like no other in Alberton. We’re offering retail for the young and the young-at-heart, adding to the appeal and success of the ‘new’ CBD of Alberton.”

It’s all in the strategy
As retail strategists, our work involves masterminding successful malls. From the expert design of mall layouts – underpinned by a skilled understanding of customer flow – to the creation of exceptional tenant mixes, we ensure that retail centres ‘work’.
As with Hebron Mall and Town Square at Newmarket, our strategy is always underpinned by an extensive and thorough feasibility study undertaken by professionals in the field. Our final choice of tenants must meet customer demand and guarantee that an extension or a new development thrives and has longevity.
We understand the importance of customer flow.
In the pipeline
We are already laying the groundwork for a number of new mall openings in 2025 – Leratong City Mall, Rondebult Shopping Centre, iTonka Square, Malekane Mall and Paledi Mall Phase 5. It’s an exciting time for retail in many areas of South Africa, and we’re happy to be making our contribution through
employment opportunities, economic growth and retail business success.
All good wishes
